Paul G. Gunnoe, DVM

 

     

Doctor Gunnoe was born in Charleston, West Virginia. He attended West Virginia University/Tech. and West Virginia University during his undergraduate years, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree from Tuskegee University in Alabama in 1981, graduating with honors. During his years at Tuskegee, Dr. Gunnoe developed his interest in surgery (soft tissue and orthopedic).

In 1984 he founded Animal Care Veterinary Hospital. Starting out as a solo practitioner, the hospital has since grown into a five doctor practice. As the practice continued to grow, he moved into our new hospital in 1993 and shortened the name to Animal Care Associates. Animal Care has always treated a wide variety of animals including dogs, cats, birds  and exotics. We continue this commitment today.

Dr. Gunnoe is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association, West Virginia Veterinary Medical Association and currently serves on the board of the Kanawha/Charleston Humane Association.

Dr. Gunnoe, his wife Robin and three children live in South Charleston. His menagerie consists of a dog, three cats, an iguana, fish and ball pythons.

 

Jeffery K. Patton, DVM

 

Doctor Patton was born in Shady Spring, West Virginia. He did his undergraduate work at Marshall University and earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree from The Ohio State University in 1994.

It was at Ohio State that Dr. Patton decided to work with Exotic animals. As a student he studied at both the Columbus Zoo and The Ohio State University Exotic Outpatient Clinic in order to further his knowledge in exotic medicine. In addition, he spent a month at the Honolulu Zoo in Hawaii studying dozens of exotic animals including:  chimpanzees, black and white rhinoceros, cheetahs, giant tortoises, and flamingos to name a few. Dr Patton now works with birds, reptiles, hamsters and numerous other animals in addition to dogs and cats.

He is an active member of the Association of Avian Veterinarians, American Veterinary Medical Association, West Virginia Veterinary Medical Association and American Animal Hospital Association.

He and his wife Monica work together at Animal Care Associates, Inc. Monica is a Registered Veterinary Technician and Head Technician. She is the founder and current President of the West Virginia Association of Veterinary Technicians. They reside in Charleston and share their home with; four birds, two dogs, and a turtle.



 

Mark D. Webster, DVM

 

Dr. Webster grew up in Teays Valley, West Virginia, and has been interested in Veterinary Medicine since he was five.  He and his parents trained dogs and exhibited them in Obedience for 15 years. Scruffy, the first dog he trained, was an intelligent and headstrong terrier that became the eighth Cairn registered by the American Kennel Club to earn a Utility Degree. Volunteering at the local Animal Shelter gave him first hand experience with the overcrowding, disease and funding problems that plague the shelter system.

Dr. Webster's formal education included a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from West Virginia University and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from The University of Georgia in 1991. He is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, West Virginia Veterinary Medical Association and the American Animal Hospital Association.

His wife Toni and his three children also love animals. They have a menagerie which includes dogs, cats, and iguana, a  chinchilla, and a ferret.


 

Carey Cornett, DVM



Dr. Cornett, the daughter of a career Air Force officer, was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, grew up in South Dakota, New Mexico, and finally ended up in Louisiana. She earned both her
Bachelor’s (Animal Science – 2001) and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (2004) from Louisiana State University. Dr. Cornett was one of five students to earn a four-year scholarship to veterinary school through the U.S. Army.

After graduating from veterinary school, Dr. Cornett attended the Army Medical Department’s Officer Basic Course in Fort Sam Houston, Texas. She was then stationed in two different military bases in Japan for three years where she ran two veterinary clinics and was in charge of food safety for thousands of service members and their families. For her fourth year in the Army, Dr. Cornett was stationed at Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, providing veterinary care to several different species of laboratory animals.

Dr. Cornett currently lives in Charleston with her husband and daughter.

 

Katie A. Noe, DVM

 



Dr. Noe was born in Knoxville, TN and moved from Clinton, TN to Saint Albans,WV in May 2009.

She graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Noe attended the University of Tennessee for her undergraduate work and received a bachelor degree in Animal Science before veterinary school.

Dr. Noe’s primary interest is dermatology. She has a houseful of pets that include 6 cats, 2 labrador retrievers, 1 rabbit, and some fish. Dr. Noe also moved her horses from Tennessee. Her Missouri Foxtrotter and Tennessee Walking horse cross currently reside at a barn in Milton, WV.
